Guernsey Heritage Festival

Historical Fun in the Channel Islands

19th April – 10th May 2019

Each year Guernsey holds a heritage festival when the island heritage attractions throw open their doors and hold special events for 5 – 6 weeks. Timed to coincide with Liberation Day on 9th May, historical re-enactments and a chance to view private war bunkers are just some of the festival highlights which culminate in a Liberation Day parade and evening fireworks display. This year the theme is ‘Guernsey Encounters.’

The Heritage Festival is a popular time to visit the island as there’s so much to enjoy. Book a Flight & Hotel deal or choose a Fly Drive Superdeal and discover Guernsey for yourself. All holiday packages include B&B with a wide choice of accommodation available.

Small Islands, big history!

The Channel Islands may be small but they have a big history! Neolithic burial mounds, ancient chambers and cave inscriptions have been found, dating human inhabitants back to prehistoric times. Roman coin hoards, medieval castles and many military defences dating back to Napoleon’s time as well as ones from World War I and II show how desirable the islands were and make for a fascinating visit.
